Internet Protocols
POP3: Post Office Protocol
IMAP: Internet Access Message Protocol
SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
These protocols are used in third party email softwares like Outlook, Thinderbird, Lotus etc. to access the emails. Many sites like hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc. use server configuration of POP3, IMAP, SMTP etc.
